What's the technology of wood laser cutting?

Ordinary mechanical engraving cannot engrave points of varying thickness in an economical manner, and therefore does not have a gray-scale representation. The laser engraving machine realizes engraving by dot printing, and has natural advantages in gray scale expression. To this end, grayscale representation is used in the engraving design as much as possible. This has the advantage of reducing the coloring process on the one hand and saving costs; on the other hand, it enriches the engraving representation and increases the level of graphics. When users use it, fill the graphics with different grayscales (the text must be converted into graphics first), and the engraving output chooses black and white mode. Carving material

Wood is by far the most commonly used laser processing material, and it is easy to carve and cut. Light-colored wood like birch, cherry or maple is easily vaporized by laser, so it is more suitable for carving. Each type of wood has its own characteristics, and some are more dense, such as hardwood, and require greater laser power when carving or cutting. We recommend that you study the carving characteristics before carving less familiar wood.

Plywood

Carving on plywood is actually not much different from carving on wood, but there is one thing to note, the depth of carving should not be too deep. The edge of the cut plywood will also be black like wood, the key thing is to see which plywood is made of wood.

Wood carving

Generally speaking, the carving on wood is usually deep engraving, and the depth of carving is generally required to be deep. In this way, the power is generally set higher, such as encountering hard wood may make the color of the graphics after carving become darker. If you want to make the color lighter, you can increase the engraving speed and try to engrave more times. Some wood will produce some oily smoke attached to the surface of the wood during carving. If the wood has been painted with paint, it can be wiped off carefully with a damp cloth. If it is not painted, it may not be wiped clean, causing stains on the surface of the finished product.

Wood cutting

The depth of the wood cut by the laser engraving machine is generally not deep. The maximum cutting depth depends on the wood material and the power of the laser. If you want to cut very thick wood, you can slow down the cutting speed, but it may cause the wood to burn. For specific operations, you can try to use large-size lenses and use the method of repeated cutting.

Coloring

After the wood is carved, there is generally a feeling of being burned. Matching the color of the wood has an original artistic beauty. The depth of the color mainly depends on the laser power and the engraving speed. But some woods are usually of a softer texture, and you cannot change their color (such as birch) no matter what. For the coloring of the finished product, acrylic pigments can be used.
